Elvio Milleri and Edelvita Santos are proud to share this prize awarded by the prestigious White Guide that since 2005 has guided people and gourmands to great food experiences in the Nordic countries. The award was handed over to Elvio and Edelvita on the 23 of May in Copenhagen where the guide hosted a big award ceremony, celebrating Denmark’s best restaurants 2016.
“This is first and foremost a celebration of the Italian wine heritage that we embrace in Era Ora as well as an acknowledgement of our passionated producers who cherish each grape and bottle”, Edelvita Santos says about the award. But its is also a result of a dedicated sommelier Elvis Torregrossa and a young chef Nicola Fanetti in creating the perfect wine and food parings.
Elvio follows personally the wines right from the start, from its first baby steps to its final climax on the palate of Era Ora’s guests. Initiating with his personal relationship to the producers (who are all hand picked according to their knowledge and approach to the traditions). He continues with the periodical visits at the wine yards to follow the development of the grapes on the fields and of the wines in the barrels, to generate dynamic cellar dialogues and human contact essential for the best and most enjoyable final result. After careful transportation at the right temperature, the important wine journey ends in Era Ora’s temperate cellar where they will be tasted after settling for 6 months to decide how many years of aging will be needed to get them to perfection.
Era Ora has around 90.000 bottles that count most of the Italian regions and embrace wines of every kind, from the very traditional to the more avant-garde, where, as Edelvita puts it, the true winner is the millennial Italian wine culture, the passionate wine makers, the humbleness for tradition and the collaboration with nature which in the end ensure us the most unforgettable bottles.”
